New Year’s Eve at Disney World

Posted by Farrah on 07/12/2011 with 0 Comments

If there’s ever an ‘Ultimate place to be on New Year’s Eve’, Walt Disney World has got to be way up there with the best. With thousands of people celebrating all day long and some of the most spectacular firework displays you’ve ever seen, this will be a New Year’s Eve experience you won’t ever forget.

When planning your New Year’s Eve at Disney World, there are a few factors you may want consider to ensure that you have the best possible time:

New Year's Eve at Disney World

Which Park?

Possibly the first and most important decision to make is deciding which of Disneyland’s parks you most want to be at when the clock hits midnight. The parks have so many visitors on this date that they may well reach their full capacity way before night falls, so to avoid being shut out, it is advised that you arrive at your chosen park early (preferably before midday - last year the Magic Kingdom was full by 12pm) and stay there.

New Year’s Eve celebrations will take place at three of the Disney World parks; Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios (The Animal Kingdom has no special events and closes at 8pm, as animals are not such big fans of fireworks as we humans are!)

Check the Schedule

Make sure you don’t miss out on any of the fabulous live entertainment that will be going on all day and evening in the Disney World parks. Be sure to pick up a Times Guide as you enter the park or from one of the shops to check the day’s schedule.

Lock up your Stuff

If, as recommended above, you are spending the day in your chosen park, it may be a good idea to rent a locker, as you can then avoid carrying things around that you may need for the evening such as coats or warmer clothing.

Must-Dos

If there is something you particularly want to do on this day, such as a ride you really want to go on, try to get hold of a “fastpass” as there will most probably be long queues for most of the attractions.

Raising a Toast?

Are you intending to toast the New Year with a glass or two (or more) of bubbly? It’s worth bearing in mind that alcohol is available at Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but not at the Magic Kingdom.

If you’re thinking of ringing in 2012 with Mickey, Donald and pals, you can pick up Disney World tickets that give you unlimited entry to some or all of the Disney World parks whether you’re visiting for 7, 14 or even 21 days.
