Blue Man Group, the world renowned show, is live, every night, at the Universal Orlando Resort.
What is the Blue Man Group?
Blue Man Group, founded by Matt Goldman, Phil Stanton and Chris Wink, is a show unlike any other you’ve ever seen. Three mute, blue painted men, dressed entirely in black, entertain their audience in a unique, funny and energizing performance that is so different to anything else out there, it virtually defies description.
What to expect at a Blue Man Group Show
A Blue Man Group show is creative, artistic and surprisingly funny. Using state-of-the-art technology, fantastic lighting and a lot of paint, the three blue men create weird, wonderful and often, completely bizarre, scenarios which are visually stunning.
A Blue Man Group show, which is one hour and forty five minutes long, is an audience interactive and multi-sensory experience combining vaudeville, percussive music, science, art and theatrics into a form of entertainment that is uniquely their own.
The Poncho Section
The area closest to the stage at a Blue Man Group show is known as the ‘Poncho Section’. Everyone in this area is provided with a poncho in case paint, coloured water etc, splashes out into the audience.
Dress Code
One thing is for sure at a Blue Man Group show, it gets seriously messy on stage, and various substances used during the show often splash out into the audience, sometimes further than the ‘poncho section’.
It’s therefore advisable to wear items of clothing that can easily be washed. A Blue Man Group show is definitely not the place to wear that brand-new designer outfit!
Interesting Facts
History of the Blue Man Group
The Blue Man character – mute, inquisitive and blue - was the 1987 brainchild of three friends – Matt Goldman, Phil Stanton and Chris Wink. The first Blue Man Group show was held at New York’s Astor Place Theater and was hugely successful.
The three founding members performed, without understudies, for the first three years of Blue Man Group shows and although there are now sixty ‘blue men’ performing at various shows around the world, Goldman, Stanton and Wink still occasionally perform.
